Chris Neale-Clark has been employed by the association for the last ten years in a number of roles as a full-time and part-time contract worker. He served as interim director for two extended periods, ensuring the ship remained afloat. Chris currently serves as our executive assistant, focusing on community engagement. This entails helping with daily administrative duties, responding to questions from members and the community, maintaining our website, handling incident reports for graffiti and other problems, and assisting our ED in his work.
Chris is a strong local connection to the community as the founder and publisher of the non-profit DTES Vancouver Business Directory organization. He started the directory in 2015 as a way to promote businesses in the DTES, as he believed that there is something in the DTES for everyone and saw it as an opportunity to help build and maintain our local community and economy. This makes him a natural fit for his work with HxBIA.
He has good working relationships with many local businesses and is aware of the complexity of the area. Chris served as a member of Exchange Inner City’s Board of Directors for a few years. He has a deep connection to the neighbourhood, as he lives in its heart.
In addition to working on the local business directory project, Chris is a freelance web developer and designer with experience in retail management, marketing, and sales. This is combined with a solid academic background that includes a BA (Laurentian), B.Th., and U.Cert (Athabasca). (B. Thornloe), and an MA (St. Davids – U of Wales).
