FIFA Updates

HxBIA’s proximity to BC Place and the “Last Mile” fan area places us at the forefront of the tournament, with opportunity to showcase local businesses to local and international visitors. Our area will also be impacted with road closures and additional attention from the City’s host committee.

HxBIA aims to share as much information with members as possible, however, the most up to date information can be found at the Vancouver Host City webpage.

HxBIA Playbook
HxBIA has created this brief document customized for HxBIA members to understand impacts on our community, as well as opportunities for businesses during the tournament period. We will update this as information is shared with us.

Immediate actions you can take to prepare:

You’re invited to attend an information session for all local businesses about FIFA World Cup 2026 ™ Vancouver.

Local businesses are invited to join the Vancouver Host Committee for an online information session about the FIFA World Cup 26™, which will include information on activating, public viewing and selling official merchandise. This is an opportunity to submit questions and learn more about what to expect during the event.

The webinar will be held online via Zoom on Tuesday, April 14th at 3:00 – 4:00 pm.

Please register in advance using this link.

An additional session is planned for businesses in May to share transportation information and other topics.

World Cup Events Calendar
Destination Vancouver’s website will act as a hub for World Cup information and visitor inspiration, helping fans experience the best of Vancouver during the tournament. As part of this hub, the site will feature a World Cup Events Calendar highlighting World Cup-inspired events, experiences, and activations across Metro Vancouver (similar to the Swiftie Calendar program during the Taylor Swift concerts in December 2024!)

The goal of the calendar is to:
  • Highlight and support World Cup-related events and experiences
  • Encourage visitors and locals to explore beyond the FIFA Fan Festival and downtown core
  • Drive awareness of neighbourhood activations, themed offerings, screenings, and community celebrations
How businesses can participate:
  • The calendar will launch publicly on the Destination Vancouver website on May 1, 2026.
  • Events submitted before May 1 may have additional opportunities for exposure, including potential features on Destination Vancouver’s social channels, blog content, and with travel trade and media audiences.
  • Businesses can visit our World Cup Business Resources page to review guidelines and submit their event.

Home Turf Toolkit
DVan has also recently launched the Home Turf Toolkit — a shared visual identity system that businesses can use to promote their World Cup-inspired events, promotions, and celebrations.
Because FIFA intellectual property is highly regulated and not available for business use, the toolkit provides a safe and flexible alternative. It includes:
  • A curated colour palette
  • Graphic elements and visual assets
  • Ready-to-use templates
  • Sample copy and messaging guidance
The goal is to create a cohesive look and feel across the city while helping businesses clearly signal to fans that they’re a place to celebrate.
