Tucked along West Hastings, Gallery Gachet has been part of the Downtown Eastside for years, offering a space that feels a bit different from your typical gallery. It’s artist-run, community-focused, and built around making art more accessible to everyone.

The gallery works closely with emerging and underrepresented artists, often highlighting work that reflects real experiences tied to the neighbourhood. Alongside exhibitions, they also host workshops and events that bring people in, not just to view art, but to be part of it.

Their current exhibition, Settle Down, Not There, runs from April 17 to June 20 and features work by Vanessa Mercedes Figueroa, Phillip McCrum, Gibson Switzer, and Ian Wallace. The show looks at ideas around space, memory, and how people experience the city in different ways.
